Consigment at An Affair With Trains
No phone calls Please! Appraisals are done on site only and require 2-3 business days.

First things first...
Before we can accept any merchandise for consignment sale, it must be judged to be in saleable condition by our staff. Items with missing or damaged parts or items that operate poorly will need to be repaired/reconditioned before the consignment process can begin. AAWT has an excellent service department to assist you if you so desire. AAWT reserves the right to refuse items that do not meet our criteria.

How does consignment work?
Each item must have a minimum retail sales value of $50.00 each. Multiple items may NOT be grouped to meet minimum value. The consignment fee for items with a sale price under $100 is 30%. The consignment fee for items with a saleprice over $100 is 20%. The consignment fee for books, pictures, videos, etc is 50%.

How do we determine the sale price?
We base our appraisals on current printed pricing guides, recent sales history of similar items, consensus of valuations from our staff and adjust for any additions or modifications made to the original item as well as the current market conditions. Consignors are also welcome to set the value of their merchandise. AAWT reserves the right to refuse any item if we are unable to agree upon a sale price and return that item at the consignor's expense.

What's next?
Once your item(s) have been determined to be in saleable condition and we have reached an agreement on sale price, we are ready to enter into a consignment agreement. Items must be consigned to AAWT for a minimum of 90 days. The full consignment fee of 20% will be charged to the consignor when an item is requested to be returned prior to the expiration of the 90 day limit. The sale price may be adjusted at the request of the consignor during the consignment period but AAWT reserves the right to refuse any price adjustment that would fall outside of AAWT policy. If the item does not sell during the initial 90 day period, the consigner may choose to extend the consignment for an indefinite period or to have the item returned.

Can your item be listed in the AAWT store?
Listing your item in the AAWT ebay store greatly increases the chances for a quicker sale and a better price. However, there are a number of fees associated with ebay. Listing and sales fees are based on a percentage of the sale price as well as credit card or PayPal fees. For an additional 10% consignment charge, AAWT will handle the whole process from photos to shipping.

Once your item is sold, when can you expect payment?
Consignment settlements are included in our normal A/P process. Payment will be made 2-4 weeks after AAWT has received payment for the sale.
